About the Department

PHYSICS DEPARTMENT

The Department of Physics has started its journey with the B.Sc General Course during the academic session 1978-79. This department offers courses only under undergraduate standards. The department is presently run by one full-time teacher. The teacher is involved in research activities and published articles in various journals of national and international repute. The teachers are very dedicated, cooperative, and responsible to the students. The aim of the department is to inculcate the teaching-learning process in a homely atmosphere. The dept. has been focusing on the increased use of multi-media aids in teaching like LCD projectors, smart classes, etc to improve student learning. PowerPoint presentation is given by faculties when necessary for the purpose of teaching the students in a more effective way. Our dedicated teachers help the students beyond their classes and use various computer-based presentations to make learning more attractive, and provide study materials, class notes, and model question-answer to the college website from time to time. The department has two equipped laboratories - one general laboratory and an optical laboratory (dark room). The Department ensures a good deal of faculty-student interaction and academic flexibility. Besides teaching the University stipulated curricula, the department organizes student seminar programme for improving academic presentation skills and career counseling programme.  Recently students from this department actively participated in the Educational Exhibition held in the college with some models that can demonstrate some scientific phenomena. The students of this department have profuse opportunities to establish themselves both in academic and other competitive examinations.

From the 2023-2024 Academic session, Curriculum and Credit Framework for Undergraduate Programmes (CCFUP)  as per NEP, 2020 was introduced. The department currently provides a three-year undergraduate program with a Physics major. For practical work and other academic purposes, the department has the necessary quantity of desktop computers.
Any department teacher can be contacted by students who are having trouble understanding the material. The department collaborates to create an environment that supports higher education, with respect for one another and a sense of togetherness.
