The Department of History was initiated with general course in 1978 and honours course started in 1998. Since then the teachers and students of the department are very keen to uphold the status of the department to the best of their abilities. Eminent teachers have served the department and many of our students are serving other academic institutions with proper glory and reverence. The department organizes academic seminars where distinguished academicians from other institutions give lectures for the best benefits of our students. Coping with the recently introduced CBCS system honours students are encouraged to give seminar presentations. Recently CCFUP under NEP has been implemented by the University of Burdwan. Educational tours are conducted and the students are asked to submit report of the tour. During pandemic situation the department to adopted online teaching method. We are planning in this regard to create a permanent online platform which will serve the student’s interest best. There are six teachers in the department at present. One Associate Professor,  one Assistant Professor and four State Aided College Teachers. All the teachers are academically well equipped, intellectually sound and very much student friendly. The motto of our department is to Study history, to know the past feel the present and look for the future. The teachers and the students feel proud to be included in such a department which we consider as our beloved one. We hope to do better in the future as we boast on perfection and not mere excellence.
