About the Department
The Department of Geography was established at Sarat Centenary College in 2002 as Pass Course or General Course subject. As per the recommendation of PEER team of NAAC (1st Cycle) the Department acquired affiliation for Honours Course from Higher Education Department of Govt. of West Bengal and The University of Burdwan in 2005. From this year both Honours and General courses are taught here. Presently two full time faculties, two SACT-I faculties and two SACT-II faculties are engaged to serve the knowledge among the students.
During this journey from 2002 till present day the Department got the privilege to be connected with many efficient, knowledgeable, enthusiastic and kind hearted teachers, most of them served here for a comparatively shorter duration and presently well established in education service. All the students from the initiation period are the most glorious gift for the Department. We belief to build our students as good human beings along with the essence of higher education. Our previous students are not only engaged only in education service but also they are serving in different crucial fields in public and private sectors.
The Department is well equipped with the provisions required for Honours and General courses with separate departmental set-up. It has class rooms and laboratories with digital teaching aids along with Wi-Fi network. Students can groom themselves within the Department along with all infrastructural facilities and the vicinity of teachers and support staff also.
Finally, the Department of Geography is expressing its gratitude to the college authority for providing enormous support to flourish properly. It is also very grateful to the people of Dhaniakhali for their whole hearted support as and when required.
